Churches in the community

Whether it's a church service, Christmas mass or even an event venue - churches enrich our community life in every neighbourhood.

  • Kalkberg Church Rüdersdorf

The neo-Gothic hall church was built between 1869 and 1873 from Rüdersdorf limestone according to a design by Friedrich August Stüler. In April 1945, the church was badly damaged by bullets. The damage was provisionally repaired in 1953. In 1991/1992, the necessary work was then carried out on the tower. The church has been a listed building since 1998. In addition to church services, concerts are also held here.

  • Church of Hope Alt Rüdersdorf

The Hoffnungskirche was built in the 14th century and is located on a village green with a medieval churchyard within a circular fieldstone wall, which was renovated in 2002. During the 30-year war, the village and the church burnt down in 1637. The repaired village church was rededicated 53 years later.

  • Catholic Church of the Holy Family Rüdersdorf

The foundation stone of the parish church of the Holy Family was laid on 24 April 1905. Thanks to the parishioners who worked day and night to build the church, the cruciform building in the neo-Romanesque style on a limestone base with a bell tower at the side was completed in just seven months and consecrated on 12 November of the same year.

  • Church Hennickendorf

The presumably oldest part of the village church was built in 1250 as a fortified church. In its present form, only a small part of the church is still recognisable as a Cistercian church. A section was added, as was the square brick tower on the western gable wall in 1863. The sacristy was built in 1911.

  • Church Herzfelde

The early Gothic church is the oldest building in the village centre of Herzfeld. It was built in 1242 as a fortified church from granite blocks under the patronage of Cistercian monks. The church was renovated and remodelled in 1846, 1858 and 1901/1904. One of the church's special features is the striking bell tower with a wall thickness of almost two metres.

  • Catholic Church Maria Hilf Herzfelde

The church and the associated rectory were built in 1934/35 according to designs by Berlin architect Josef Bachem. The new building was necessary because the number of Catholics, most of whom worked in the brick and cement industry and in agriculture, was constantly increasing.

  • Church Lichtenow

The old village centre of Lichtenow is located approximately one kilometre north of the B 1 federal road. The small village church stands in the middle of this old village centre. It was built in 1499 as a late Gothic, rectangular fieldstone building. There are three bells in the turret above the west gable. The baptismal font dates from the 18th century.
