Class of bookworms wanted

The Friedrich-Wilhelm-von-Reden Library is looking for bookworms for the third time as part of the Brandenburg Summer of Reading. Primary school children can now register for the Brandenburg Summer of Reading, which begins on 8 July 2024. The aim for participants is to read at least three books by the end of the summer holidays on 30 August 2024. Each registration comes with a logbook and adventure sheets for the books, on which the children can summarise the content and the most exciting moments of the books. Anyone who reads at least three books will receive a certificate at the end of the project period. In addition to the certificate, a personalised raffle ticket is entered into a pot for the raffle with great prizes.

There is also a competition between the classes of the primary and secondary schools in Rüdersdorf and the Am Stienitzsee primary school in Hennickendorf. The three classes in which the most children read at least three books will receive a trophy and an experience voucher for the whole class.

The most diligent reader will also be honoured separately with a trophy each. Last year's winner read a total of 48 books during the project period. The award ceremony will take place at a joint closing event on 8 September 2024 in the Museum Park.

You can register and borrow books at the main library (Straße der Jugend 32, 15562 Rüdersdorf bei Berlin) as well as at the Hennickendorf branch (OT Hennickendorf, Bahnhofstraße 39, 15378 Rüdersdorf bei Berlin, Monday: 9 am - 12 noon and 1 pm - 4 pm, Thursday: 1 pm - 6 pm).

The Brandenburg Summer of Reading is a project to promote reading and was initiated by the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences and the Brandenburg State Centre for Archives and Public Libraries. The summer of reading in the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin is made possible by the kind support of the Genterczewsky general medical practice, the Meyer opticians, the Strausberg Lions Club, EDEKA, Fels Werke, CEMEX Deutschland AG and the German Library Association.
