An automated external defibrillator (AED) is now freely accessible in the entrance area of the town hall of the municipality of Rüdersdorf bei Berlin (Hans-Striegelski-Straße 5, 15562 Rüdersdorf bei Berlin). The device is available to all citizens during the regular opening hours of the town hall and can be used quickly and easily in an emergency to provide immediate life-saving assistance in the event of sudden cardiac arrest.
An AED is a portable device that uses electric shocks to restore normal heart rhythm when someone suffers a sudden cardiac arrest. The device automatically analyses the affected person's heart rhythm and delivers an electric shock if necessary. Thanks to its simple operation, even laypersons can use the device safely and effectively in an emergency situation. The rapid use of a defibrillator can significantly increase a victim's chances of survival and is therefore an indispensable aid in first aid.
The purchase of the defibrillator was supported with funds from the district and is another important step in the "Disaster control lighthouse" project. The aim of this project is to establish the town hall as the first point of contact for the population in the event of a disaster. As part of these measures, various emergency resources have already been provided, including heaters, seating and emergency food. In the near future, an emergency power generator will also be supplied to ensure that the town hall can continue to function during power cuts.
