Press release 2023/20 of the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin
Demolition work on the former NP store at Brückenstraße 105 in Rüdersdorf near Berlin will begin on Monday, 3 July 2023. Construction fences will be erected and parking bans put in place in the days beforehand. Through traffic to both schools and the residential area in Brückenstraße will not be affected by the closures. The parking bans only affect the area directly adjacent to the old market hall (see attachment). Those familiar with the area are advised to use the car park at the sports field.
Following the approximately six weeks of demolition work, a green area will be created on the site and a connecting path between the existing steps and the grammar school.
The demolition of the former shopping hall is the next milestone on the way to designing the neighbourhood, which is being realised with funding from the state as part of the Socially Integrative City project.
The originally planned construction of a neighbourhood building with offices and meeting rooms on the site will be postponed, at least for the time being, and priority will be given to the vision of creating a square with a high amenity value and plenty of open space. The first measures are scheduled for completion in mid-September 2023.
