Application for expansion of the day-care centre capacity

Joint press release (2021/19) by the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin and Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V.

In a meeting scheduled at short notice between Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. and the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin, a joint approach was agreed to create additional childcare places at the Rappelkiste after-school care centre at Rüdersdorf primary and secondary school. The current capacity of 211 children is to be increased as quickly as possible by applying to the responsible Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MBJS). On the one hand, this involves a permanent increase of 11 places and, on the other hand, an additional increase in capacity of around 25 places for a limited period over the next two years. To this end, the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin is providing Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. with a room in the new primary and secondary school building for afternoon childcare. Prior to this, the Johanniter must employ additional staff, and a corresponding search for personnel is already underway. Furthermore, the municipality of Rüdersdorf has promised the independent organisation support in the application process for an increase in capacity at the MBJS and further discussions to relieve the situation regarding after-school care places.
"We hope that the application will be processed quickly so that the children who have not yet been provided for can be offered an after-school care place as soon as possible," said Mayor Sabine Löser after the meeting. Elisabeth Alter and Uwe Kleiner, the regional board members of Johanniter, are also confident that they will be able to help the municipality with this challenge quickly and easily.
