On 3 September 2023 from 11 am to 3 pm, the kick-off event for this year's CITY CYCLING in the district of Märkisch-Oderland will take place on the grounds of FC Wacker Herzfelde 1925 e.V. (OT Herzfelde, Möllenstraße 12, 15378 Rüdersdorf near Berlin).
In addition to music and refreshments, the festival site will offer the opportunity to have your bike coded (against proof of ownership) by the police, a bike course for children organised by the traffic watch, free bike checks and advice, performances by the Fredersdorf-Vogelsdorf e.V. unicycle troupe, a demonstration by DOKAN Kampfkunst Lichtenow e.V., a Zumba class to watch and take part in by the "Auf Kurs" health studio, as well as other programme items and offers for the whole family.
The municipality invites you to take part in a cycle tour of around 20 kilometres through all districts from 10 am, which is expected to arrive at the festival site at around 11.30 am. The tour starts at 10 am at the village green in Lichtenow and continues via the Henni-ckendorf fairground (10:20 am), Tasdorf, the Rüdersdorf market square (11 am), Potsdamer Platz (11:10 am) to Herzfelde. It is possible to join the cycle tour at any time along the route. The STADTRDELN kick-off event also marks the start of the Rüdersdorf Health Days. At the end of the tour, the festival is officially opened and the challenge trophies are returned: The municipality of Rüdersdorf bei Berlin returns its trophy for the municipality with the most kilometres to the district and the open team Rüdersdorf returns its trophy for the most kilometres in the municipality to the municipal administration.
Rüdersdorf bei Berlin's declared aim is to win the district's challenge cup again in CITY CYCLING 2023. Mayor Sabine Löser explains: "I would like to invite all municipalities in the district to take part in CITY CYCLING this year and join us. In the last two years, we have felt in our community what a positive feeling participation conveys and what active competition has arisen among the clubs and schools. I would also be delighted to welcome as many representatives of the district's municipalities as possible to the kick-off event in Herzfelde - anyone who comes by bike will collect the first kilometres for their team and their municipality."
At the same time, the next job application day of the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin will take place on the grounds of the kick-off event. In an informal atmosphere, interested parties can find out about job vacancies in the municipality and submit short applications.

For the third time in a row, the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin is taking part in CITY CYCLING from 3 to 23 September 2023. Last year, people in the municipality cycled the most kilometres in the entire district over the three weeks, clocking up an impressive 62,257 km. This saved almost 10 tonnes of CO2. City cycling is a competition in which the aim is to cycle as many everyday journeys as possible in a climate-friendly way over 21 days. It doesn't matter whether a person already cycles every day or has rarely used a bike before. Every kilometre counts - especially if it would otherwise have been covered by car.
It is possible to set up a team with friends, in the classroom, with family, at work or at a club, or to join an existing team in the community. The team with the most kilometres will win the challenge cup of the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin. The kilometres cycled can either be registered directly via the app, entered on the CITY CYCLING website(https://www.stadtradeln.de/ruedersdorf) or reported by telephone (033638 85 316). As "The Ra(n)dberlin Administration", the administration of the municipality of Rüdersdorf bei Berlin is also actively participating in CITY CYCLING and competing with other teams in the municipality for the challenge cup.
Traditionally, the winning municipality from the previous year organises the kick-off event for CITY CYCLING.
