The anniversary of 20 July 1944 commemorates the failed assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler under the leadership of Colonel Claus Graf Schenk von Stauffenberg. The events of 20 July 1944 are considered the greatest revolt against the National Socialist regime. However, the assassination attempt failed due to several unfortunate circumstances, so that the supporters of the regime were quickly able to resume their leading positions. As a result of the failure, Stauffenberg and numerous members of the resistance were executed by summary execution.
For this reason, public buildings all over Germany, including the Rüdersdorf town hall, are being flagged.
