At its meeting today, the state government decided on stricter coronavirus measures, which will come into force on 15 December 2022. It announced this in a press release:
"The infection situation in Brandenburg remains very serious. Although incidences are moving sideways, they are still at a very high level. The situation in hospitals in particular continues to worsen and is expected to get worse in the coming weeks. In view of this situation, the state government today adopted amendments to the Second SARS-CoV-2 Containment Ordinance. Brandenburg is thus implementing further measures that the federal and state governments agreed on 2 December. The amended Corona Ordinance comes into force tomorrow, Wednesday (15 December), and will initially apply until the end of 11 January 2022.
The state government has already communicated the relevant content several times so that all those affected can prepare for the new requirements in good time. Essentially, the current protective measures to contain the coronavirus pandemic will be retained. These include the social distancing requirement in public spaces and the obligation to wear masks in schools. The 2G rule continues to apply in retail, restaurants and hotels, for cultural events such as cinemas and theatres and for services close to the body. The night-time curfew for unvaccinated people in hotspot regions also continues to apply unchanged, including seven-day incidence for three consecutive days above the threshold of 750.
As already announced several times, contact restrictions in private and public spaces are being tightened. Clubs and discos must close nationwide. Large events with more than 1,000 guests present at the same time are prohibited. The 2G rule may apply at universities and the 2G Plus rule at events. For gatherings (demonstrations), an outdoor limit of 1,000 people attending at the same time applies (further details on these points below).
On New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, gatherings of people and the use of pyrotechnic objects on public thoroughfares, streets and squares are prohibited. Details are regulated by the districts and independent cities by means of general decrees. A corresponding federal regulation is planned for the ban on the sale of pyrotechnics before New Year's Eve.
There is a new age limit for 2G access: instead of children under the age of 12 as before, from 15 December all children up to the age of 14 will have access to 2G areas without proof of testing, even if they have not yet been vaccinated. [...]
The legal basis for the coronavirus protection measures is Section 28a of the Federal Infection Protection Act. Yesterday, Monday (13 December), the state parliament identified a specific risk of the epidemic spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the state of Brandenburg."
