Shopping online, using messenger services or converting your own home into a smart home: there are numerous ways to make everyday life easier with digital aids. However, many senior citizens feel unsure about using new media and would like to consolidate their online skills. This is where the Digital Angel info mobile comes in: Initiated by Deutschland sicher im Netz e.V. (DsiN), the Infomobil is on the road nationwide to spread digital skills for older online and offline users. Experts advise older people on the safe use of digital applications and clarify individual questions in personal discussions. In cooperation with local partners working with senior citizens, they organise workshops and draw attention to local training opportunities. The experts from Deutschland sicher im Netz e.V. also present explanatory videos on digitalisation topics at www.digitaler-engel.org. The videos present the safe use of digital content and tools in everyday life.

"Digitalisation offers numerous opportunities, especially for older people in rural and structurally weak regions. The Digital Angel helps to demonstrate opportunities for digital participation and teach skills in dealing with new media through dialogue," explains DsiN Managing Director Dr Michael Littger. The nationwide programme is funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Women, Senior Citizens and Youth (BMFSFJ) and is run in cooperation with numerous institutions working with senior citizens. These include multi-generation centres, the Digital Compass and local senior citizens' clubs.
