Do you like to exercise? Do you also enjoy doing sport? If so, what do you value about this type of activity? Where do you still see room for improvement, especially in your town or municipality? From the end of April, citizens in Märkisch-Oderland will be asked these and other questions to take part in sports development planning.
The district of Märkisch-Oderland is working on a sports development plan in cooperation with the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences for Sport and Management, the European Sports Academy of the State of Brandenburg and the university.
A public survey on citizens' sporting behaviour is now being launched. "Hand on heart: Do you like to exercise? Do you also enjoy doing sport? If so, what do you value about this type of activity? Where do you still see room for improvement, especially in your town or municipality? - If not: What prevents you from doing more physical activity and doing it more often? Or what wishes and ideas do you have in terms of sport and exercise?"
These and other questions are part of a questionnaire that will be sent to 10,450 randomly selected households throughout the district from 24 April 2015. The aim is to encourage people to lead a more active lifestyle and to create a sustainable basis for a variety of sporting activities through needs-based planning.
The sports development plan therefore goes beyond an inventory of sports facilities because it takes into account needs, habits and demographic change. The administration and scientists therefore request that the questionnaires be completed as comprehensively as possible and returned free of charge. The data collected will be used anonymously and confidentially for the stated purpose only.
Parallel to the citizen survey, on 27 April all sports clubs, schools and day care centres in the district will receive a specific questionnaire on prospects, potential and possible problems in the context of their sporting development.
The results of the surveys will form the basis for the subsequent joint planning phase in late autumn 2015. During a public workshop, the scientific results will be presented to experts from the specialist administrations of the local authorities, representatives of the sports clubs, schools and daycare centres as well as interested citizens and developed further together.
