Dear readers,
Once again, we have had a year full of challenges, beautiful and exciting moments, but also events that left us with food for thought. Instead of the war in Ukraine coming to an end, another one flared up in the Middle East in the autumn. The world is in turmoil.
There is considerable scepticism towards state institutions, politics, our democratic constitution and scientifically recognised facts. All too quickly, supposedly simple answers are given to complex questions. The many colourful facets of our lives and our points of view often seem to focus only on the outermost black and white poles. We too often emphasise what divides us instead of what unites us.
As mayor, I see it as the responsibility of myself and my entire team to be there for you locally, to strengthen your trust in the administration and thus in government action and to be a reliable local partner for you. This year, you have two opportunities to influence political developments in the coming years. In June in the local and European elections and in September in the state elections. For the municipal level in particular, I would like to encourage you to throw your hat into the ring of the election arena for the municipal council and the local councils. Let us tackle and shape the challenges and opportunities of the coming years together.
Looking back over the last few years, I can assure you that we have always worked together with our local politicians to find objective solutions and will continue to do so. Pragmatic solutions are usually the good compromises, not the supposedly simple, loud and populist solutions. With this in mind, I hope that we will continue to present a colourful, cosmopolitan and forward-looking face in our community in the future. Together, let us continue to preserve, cultivate and utilise our great potential of a diverse club landscape, the unique museum park, the wonderful districts with their many green oases and strengthen our crisis-proof business and health location.
