The Auschwitz concentration camp was liberated on 27 January 1945. Federal President Roman Herzog therefore declared this day an official day of remembrance for the victims of National Socialism and Holocaust Remembrance Day. To mark this occasion, the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin organises a commemorative event.
