Press release 54/2021 of the district of Märkisch-Oderland
The district of Märkisch-Oderland has been fighting the spread of African swine fever (ASF) for a year now.
So far, 271 wild boars have tested positive for ASF here. For many of those affected, the epidemic and the associated usage bans have a wide range of consequences.
Wild boar searches and tests help us to get an accurate picture of the epidemic. Helicopter and drone flights provide us with information about the wild boar population in the region.
To support disease control efforts, the district of Märkisch-Oderland is looking for volunteers who, if required, can take part in further wild boar searches after being instructed and accompanied by people who know the area well.
