For the third time, the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin invites you to the Brücknick, the picnic on the Peter Lübkes Bridge in the centre of Rüdersdorf, on 21 June 2024 from 6 pm.
In keeping with the summer solstice, the theme of this year's Brücknick is "Midsommar". On the longest day of the year, the beginning of summer is traditionally celebrated in Sweden. Accompanied by Swedish music, the people of the community are invited to take a seat at the longest picnic table in the region on the footbridge over the Kalkgraben and enjoy a warm summer evening.
The rule is: everyone brings their own picnic. It doesn't matter whether it's typical Midsommar dishes such as salmon, herring and crispbread or something completely different.
At the beginning of the event, a sign with the inscription "Peter-Lübkes-Brücke" will be symbolically placed so that the well-known and striking pedestrian bridge will openly bear the name after more than 10 years.
In 2022, the first bridge nod commemorated the tenth anniversary of the Peter Lübkes Bridge, which was completed on 1 December 2011 after a construction period of around four months. The new bridge, which is over 160 metres long, replaced the bridge that was originally built in 1912 and was in danger of collapsing due to ground subsidence and the effects of war, which was finally dismantled in 2002. The bridge was named after Peter Lübkes, who was head of the municipality for almost 30 years from 1886.
