Unfortunately, news of a bomb or munitions discovery is nothing unusual for many residents in the state of Brandenburg. Especially in the area around Oranienburg, bombs from World War II are found time and again and the corresponding area is cleared for demolition.
In our municipality, such a discovery is rather rare. Rüdersdorf is generally free of munitions. However, it cannot be completely ruled out that there are still munitions in the ground.
If you find ammunition, the following rules of behaviour apply to avoid endangering your own safety and that of others:
- Do not touch anything and do not move what you have found
- Notify the police immediately
- Mark the location visibly, if possible
- Wait for the police to arrive at a safe distance from the scene of the accident.
Due to the long service life of World War II munitions, an explosion can be expected at any time, as they have not lost their danger despite their age. On the contrary, the severe weathering makes them all the more dangerous. Even the slightest contact can trigger an explosion.
Hands off found ammunition!
