Online town hall launches with citizen portal

Press release 2023/25 of the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin

The citizens' portal of the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin can now be accessed via the municipality's website(www.ruedersdorf.de). On the website, all services as well as the responsible contact persons and forms of the municipality can be found compactly in one place. All users have to do is enter what they are looking for and they will be taken directly to the service.
An online form is already available for seven services:

  • Business registration, deregistration and re-registration
  • Applying for a special use permit
  • Application for a temporary restaurant licence
  • Application for tree felling
  • Applying for a house number
  • Issuing a direct debit authorisation
  • Registration of a dog

It is no longer necessary to fill out a separate pdf application for these services. Instead, users are guided through an input screen. At the end, the application is transferred directly to the inbox of the municipality's digital file management system and processed there. From the end of the year, it will probably be possible to pay for the services directly online when submitting the application. It is also planned to realise comprehensive online appointment booking by the end of the year. It will then also be possible to book a Ter-min in the specialist departments online.

Mayor Sabine Löser explains: "I am delighted that we have now reached another milestone in the implementation of the Online Access Act. We are thus consistently pursuing the path of digitalisation." Löser goes on to explain that this is by no means an end in itself, but rather "the current adjustment also helps us to review and streamline procedures. The law has forced us to take a close look at all administrative processes and check where we can streamline procedures and, above all, make them simpler and more user-friendly for the people in the municipality."

In the coming months, all other services will be gradually transferred to the online forms so that pdf documents will be a thing of the past. Of course, it will still be possible to submit all applications directly to the relevant departments by appointment. Anyone who needs support or is not yet digitally savvy can also get help filling out the forms at the Citizens' Service Centre.

The citizen portal was realised with the Zweckverband Digitale Kommunen Brandenburg. The Brandenburg Citizen and Business Service (Bus-BB) serves as the database. The aim of this system is to guide users directly to the correct contact point without them having to research in advance whether the municipality or district is responsible for the application, for example.
