Rüdersdorf is now available as an app

Press release 2022/12

The municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin now has its own app for smartphones and tablets. The app combines a variety of functions relating to life in the municipality. It is a news and information portal, a tipster for excursions and events, timetable information, defect notifier, digital access to the official gazette, booking tool for appointments at the town hall and registry office, weather report and much more. If you want, you can use the app to remind you to collect your rubbish or to be warned about storms.
The free app is now available to download for iOS and Android devices from the App Store and Play Store. The project was realised with the help of funding from the Brandenburg Ministry of the Interior and Local Government. The city of Bad Belzig had the app developed for the first time in 2019 and is now making it available to other municipalities on the basis of open source code.
A total of €20,000 in funding was made available for the development of the app, its operation in the first year and public relations work. From the second year of operation, the municipality will incur annual costs of €4,284.
Extensive marketing measures were subsidised to inform people about the app:

The most important functions are summarised on app.ruedersdorf.de. In the coming weeks, all residents of the municipality will be informed about the new application by direct mail. In addition to the usual marketing measures, the app will also be advertised on the municipality's envelopes.

Mayor Sabine Löser explains the launch of the Rüdersdorf-bei-Berlin app:
"With our own municipal app, we have taken another step towards modern and digital administration. The smartphone has become an integral part of most people's lives - with the Rüdersdorf-bei-Berlin app, people now have their town in their pocket. There are many small functions that make everyday life easier, such as the waste calendar, which reminds you when to collect your rubbish or book appointments. We can also involve people directly via surveys. You can also find all the news about the municipality in the app. I would be delighted if many people use the app in future and give us direct feedback on it."
