Rüdersdorf creates its own infrastructure for corona - rapid tests in all districts

Press release 2021/8 of the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin

In a concerted effort, the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin has succeeded in setting up a network for free rapid coronavirus tests in all districts. From now on, appointments can be booked via the municipality's website or by calling the citizens' office (033638 850).
The rapid tests are offered on different days in the municipality's premises in all four districts. After it became clear that none of the 11 planned locations for rapid tests, which the district of Märkisch-Oderland had previously organised together with pharmacies, were in the municipality of Rüdersdorf bei Berlin, the decision was made to act. Instead of organising tests with one partner at one location in the over 70 km² municipality, the burden was shared between several shoulders. The municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin is responsible for coordinating the test appointments and providing the premises. The tests are mainly organised by care services from the municipality, pharmacies and doctors are also requested. On this basis, there is no rigid appointment corset, but rather the scheduling options of the testers are adapted. At the start of the appointment booking programme, 666 appointments are already available for booking until the end of April. The offer will be regularly expanded and adapted over the coming days and weeks. The first appointments will be available on Friday, 26 March 2021 in the Hennickendorf district.
The test partners will be organised and the appointment booking platform set up within one working day.
After the first tests, the municipality will work with the testers to see what the demand is and whether the offer should be expanded further.
All citizens need to do is bring their health insurance card to the appointment to have the weekly free rapid test guaranteed by the federal government. Immediately after the test, you will receive a certificate from the public health department confirming the result. In the event of a positive corona test, a PCR test will be arranged immediately. The PCR test is not carried out as part of the rapid tests.

Mayor Sabine Löser explains:
"I am delighted that we have managed to find a pragmatic solution within a very short space of time and set up a trial service in all districts. We have achieved something that is unique for an area municipality in Märkisch-Oderland, possibly even in the whole of Brandenburg. Instead of creating a point of contact for rapid tests, we are reaching out to all the districts. We are also establishing a simple appointment system. Appointments can be booked online or by phone in just a few minutes. I would like to thank everyone who has spontaneously agreed to help with this. I am firmly convinced that we have succeeded in creating a prime example of pragmatic and hands-on action at local authority level. Instead of pondering for a long time about the fact that we don't have a contact point for rapid tests, we looked for allies and found a solution directly on site."

The rapid tests are carried out at the following locations:
Rüdersdorf district: Town hall of the municipality of Rüdersdorf bei Berlin, Hans-Striegelski-Straße 5, 15562 Rüdersdorf bei Berlin
