Remembrance Day

Volkstrauertag is a national day of remembrance and has been observed two Sundays before the first Sunday in Advent since 1952. It commemorates the war dead and victims of tyranny of all nations. The central hour of remembrance on Remembrance Day takes place in the German Bundestag. Based on the form of the central memorial service, memorial services with wreath-laying ceremonies are also held in all federal states and most cities and municipalities.

For this reason, public buildings across the country are flying their flags at half-mast, as is the Rüdersdorf town hall.
